Media 100, a leader in low-cost high-quality digital video capture and editing tools, faced the task of re-educating a market it had helped to build. The need for this re-education stemmed from the emergence of video for the web and the perception that traditional non-linear video editing tools were overpriced for "postage stamp" streaming video and under-equipped to serve as a nexus between the "old world" of tape-based delivery and the "new world" of web-based delivery.

A series of extended conversations with product management and the marketing teams, as well as extensive in-house testing by our technical team, proved both the robustness of Media 100's existing tools for the needs of web-centric video content creators. Additional information provided by Media 100 revealed a roadmap for integration of web-centric tools into Media 100's line of products, building on the traditional editing tools already present in Media 100 systems.

This white paper was the first in a series of white papers detailing Media 100's progressive emergence as a leader in streaming media tools and services.

Media 100 published the white paper in late January 2000, making it available as a download and a direct mail fulfillment piece.
